What a broker does

More than one lender's programs to compare.

As a mortgage broker, Home Express works with many lenders, so a loan can be compared across more than one of them. A bank or mortgage lender generally makes the loan itself, from its own programs; through a broker, the loan is made by a third-party lender, which makes the credit decision. When you buy or refinance a home you'll live in, a broker is paid either by you or by the lender, never both on the same loan, and that pay is listed on the Closing Disclosure you get before closing.
