Build or renovate

Construction and renovation loans, step by step.

For buyers building a new home, and for buyers or owners whose home needs work. Single-close construction-to-permanent financing covers the build and the finished home with one approval and one closing, instead of a construction loan followed by a separate mortgage. VA construction-to-permanent is one of the options. Land the buyer already owns can count toward the deal, depending on the lender and the loan. A renovation loan puts the purchase or refinance of an existing home and the cost of the work into one loan, and it can count what the home is expected to be worth after the work. FHA 203(k), Fannie Mae HomeStyle Renovation and VA Renovation are among the options. The other lessons cover the closing costs and the Loan Estimate that come with either.
